This tea bowl was wheel thrown from my small pottery studio in Taiwan.
I used local Taiwanese clay and then applied a shino glaze. Before glazing I coated the pot with a thin layer of iron. This iron bled through the glaze, producing some interesting patterns.
I believe a good tea bowl will tell a 'story' with every turn of the bowl. New and interesting things to see. I love making tea bowls as each are individual and have their own personality.
While throwing this bowl I wanted to create a bowl that appeared to have gone through a struggle, but was victorious in the end. Standing there with all the scars and trials of life.
This bowl feels nice in the hands. Be its owner.
