Chawan

This handmade tea bowl was made from Japanese porcelain clay. As I was throwing this bowl I attempted to include some character by moving the clay to reveal undulations.
The bowl is quite large measuring 14.5 cm in width and stands 9 cm.

I applied a glossy black glaze and also added some amber accents with the use of wood ash.

I love making tea bowls as each is different and unique - a little like us.
