Formed from black Japanese clay and glazed with pine ash, this chawan was fired in a reduction atmosphere, allowing the flame and ash to leave their quiet traces. Subtle shifts in tone and texture speak to the unpredictable beauty of the kiln. Created in the spirit of wabi-sabi, it celebrates the imperfect and the impermanent—the marks of time, touch, and chance.
