Chawan

This chawan measures 12 cm in width and 10.5 cm in height and was wood-fired over four days, allowing the natural movement of flame and ash to shape its surface. The bowl is finished with a soft white crackle glaze, where a network of fine lines gently spreads across the surface, giving the piece a quiet sense of depth and age. Within the glaze, subtle crystalline formations emerged during the long firing, adding delicate points of visual interest. Each angle reveals slight variations created by the kiln, making this bowl a unique expression of the wood-firing process and the calm, tactile beauty valued in the tea ceremony.
