Sake Set

This sake set for one was wheel thrown from my small pottery workshop here in Taiwan. Throughout my 19 years living in Asia I have grown to love the Asian aesthetic, especially when it come to pottery.

I used local Taiwanese clay and then gas fired these pieces for 14 hours.

An original glaze was applied and then wood ash from Taiwanese trees was infused into the glaze application. The golden tea dust is the wood ash that when fired high, turns into a beautiful glaze. Both the tokkuri and gunomi have this application.

While glazing the tokkuri I gripped it from the base, which explains my finger marks on the parts that are not glazed. I believe this adds to the character of the piece. Further evidence that the pot was made by a human.

My seal is stamped on each piece.
