Tea Bowl

More than ever did Marcus indulge in throwing an expansive Koshi (shoulder, hip).
It is so predominant, that the wall above, sitting on the mighty bulge of the Chasen aerea, does have no other choice than to retreat, doing so in the way of a mellow Rokuro-me. This spiral groove finally peters out at the rim, but before that constricts the body, digging itself deep in, insinuating a kind of lip groove, if with open ends. The resulting fleshy lip protrudes excentrically almost until the extent of the Koshi, vanishing within a short length of the rim on the other side. Topped by two pattering crests of the choppy lip line it so is the image of a washing wave in itself.

The observer is left with an impression of lusciousness, enhanced by the sprawling irregularity of the body. Sagely, for the sake of measure, the foot is a rather narrow, geometrical, cleanly thrown ring, centred by a plain, flat conus. It has been said, the bowl went through a hell of a wood fire, which it has warded off unscathed. Still, there is evidence enough for that, as the ash flow not only has left a (torn) curtain of brownish spots and cords, running from the rim downwards on both sides over and into the parchment-coloured glaze but also settled sporadically in places as palpable splodges.
An extremely expressive piece, in spite of all obvious art naturally developing and branded by richly occurring coincidence.
