Tea Bowl

This tea bowl was wheel thrown from my small pottery workshop here in Taiwan. I look out over the Yamingshan mountains which are a constant source of inspiration.

I used a variety of mixed Taiwanese clays in the making process. You can see this in the bare clay near the foot ring. I glazed with an original glaze recipe and reduction fired the pot for 14 over 14 hours. During a reduction firing the iron in the clay body with come to the surface resulting in a speckled effect. I also added a simple brush stroke pattern to add some interest and distinguish the piece as an original.

My seal is stamped near the foot ring.
